On 16 and 17 April 2019 the co-founder of TSCAI, Raffaele Gareri, was invited to participate in the Mega City Infrastructure Week (https://megacityinfrastructure.iqpc.com) which was held in Dubai. TSCAI was in fact a Supporting Organization of the event which saw the participation, under the same roof , of companies, institutions and professionals of the infrastructure of ports, roads and buildings with experts of smart cities and new technologies (AI, blockchain, IoT ect).
Raffaele illustrated the project of the Province of Brescia and its 28 municipalities that have decided to exploit the savings of an energy efficiency intervention for the construction of an IoT infrastructure in LoRa technology. Raffaele also participated in the opening plenary session at the panel “CITY PLANNER INNOVATION PANEL: TECH & THE CITY. WHO WILL WIN THE RACE FOR GLOBAL TO THE DOMINATION? ” with Oualid Ali, President and Director at the Training and Smart Solutions Center of Future Cities Council and The German University of Technology (GuTech Oman) and Safder Nazir, Regional Vice President – Digital Industries Strategy of Huawei Technologies. He also participated in the “Connected Cities” section at the panel “MOVING TECH BEYOND THE HYPE – IN DEEP DIVE INTO THE KEY CHALLENGES CITIES ARE FACED WITH WHILE IMPLEMENTING SMART CITY” with Dr. Petar Stojanov, Managing Partner, Ebtikaar UAE and Oualid Ali, President and Director at the Training and Smart Solutions Center of Future Cities Council and The German University of Technology (GuTech Oman).
It was an opportunity for over 500 participants to discuss how traditional infrastructures and digital technologies can be integrated to create new services, business models and new opportunities for citizens and businesses. Dubai is a reality that is very projected towards the future where often the actors who are called to build innovation are also players that come from the Old European Continent, demonstrating that we do not lack know-how but we should believe more in the benefits deriving from digitization .
