Monday 7 December from 21:00 to 22:00 – on the Google Meet platform and in streaming – the #Restart webinar will take place, A New Digital Deal: how to make the best use of digitalization at the service of our cities with Raffaele Gareri, Director of the Digital Transformation Department of Roma Capitale and Responsible for the Transition to Digital, and Agata Quattrone, President of P4C – Prepare for Change.
Digital offers the opportunity to effectively face the future and its global challenges and to achieve in the best way social, economic and environmental well-being objectives in our cities. What has long been evident to industry experts and insiders today— while we are called upon to deal with the health emergency and to confront our resilience — has become clear to everyone.
However, technology alone cannot be expected to lead us to a secure future. The many “smart city” initiatives carried out in our country have produced different results. Overall, cities’ approach to digital innovation appears to be the result of spatial insights and strategies. There is a lack of a single strategy and, thanks to the uneven dissemination of skills that can guide digital transformation, the risk is that the available resources will be dispersed into solutions without a system logic, fragmented, non-interoperable, non-reusable, non-decisive.
There is therefore a problem of coordination and planning. How can we make our experience part of a strategy? There can probably not be a universal solution, valid for everyone, every community must find its own idea of the future and new methods to cultivate its hope. But we can share a series of principles that, together, can fully shape a national strategy to an Italian Digital New Deal to guide the convergence between individual and collective needs, new technologies and models of business, governance and ecosystem.
